Voting starts on projects under next edition of the ITU WSIS Project Prizes

Poland is participating in the ITU contest for best projects to implement the outcomes of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS). 5 Polish projects were nominated in this year's edition of the WSIS Project Prizes.

Changes to the National Frequency Allocation Table

On 18 February 2014, a new Ordinance of the Council of Ministers on the National Frequency Allocation Table will enter into force. It was necessary to issue this document due to amendment to the Telecommunications Act, and specifically due to changes to Article 111 (3) of the Act.

Public consultation on auction in the 800 MHz and 2.6 GHz bands

The President of the Office of Electronic Communications launches public consultation on the auction for frequencies in the 800 MHz and 2.6 GHz bands. 

The President of UKE cancels the frequency auction - stability and legal certainty are the supreme values

On 11 February 2014, the President of the Office of Electronic Communications took a decision to cancel the auction for general exclusive frequency licences in the 791-816 MHz band and in the 832-857 MHz band, as well as in the 2500-2570 MHz band and in the 2620-2690 MHz band on the territory of the entire country, allocated for provision of telecommunications services in the mobile or fixed service. The reason for such decision of the President of UKE is its concern for ensuring stability and legal certainty as well as eliminating any possible doubts of formal and legal nature that may accompany the auction procedure.

Telecommunications services cheaper by 8.6%

The Central Statistical Office in Poland (GUS) has published information on the price indices of consumer goods and services for December 2013. According to the GUS data, the charges related to communications in 2013 fell by 8.3% (compared to an increase by 0.8 observed in 2012).

On 9 January an award ceremony of certificates granted by the President of UKE took place in the Office of Electronic Communications. The winners included: Orange Polska, UPC Polska, CenterNet and FOSET Paweł Szubczyński.

Trust but verify - summary for 2013

The Office of Electronic Communications has summarized an educational campaign called "Trust but verify" aimed at supporting the subscribers and preventing unfair practices in the telecommunications market. In 2013, 32 face-to-face meetings of UKE experts and consumers in the entire country were held.

Results of WLAN 5 GHZ radio device inspection

Only 28% of WLAN 5 GHz radio devices fully comply with European administrative requirements. We are presenting the results of the 5th measurement campaign for wireless local network devices operating in the 5 GHz band.

The President of UKE is also the specialised authority in the area of equipment conformity assessment, including telecommunications terminal equipment and radio equipment.
