Agreement with Belarus on digital dividend

On 14 October 2011, the Office of Electronic Communications concluded an agreement with the State Inspection for Telecommunications of the Ministry of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus. The agreement concerned the principles of using frequencies in the 790-862 MHz band by the two countries (digital dividend).

From 10 to 14 October 2011, a meeting between representatives of the communications administrations of Belarus, Lithuania, Latvia and Poland took place in Minsk (Belarus). The meeting was organized on the initiative of the Polish Ministry of Infrastructure. Due to an expert nature of talks the Polish side was represented exclusively by experts from the Office of Electronic Communications.

The Agreement lays down technical grounds and administrative procedures for coordination of frequencies from this band in border areas, which constitutes another important milestone on the way to make the 800 MHz band available in Poland for the purposes of providing electronic communications services, including broadband Internet access.
