Under the patronage of Magdalena Gaj, the President of the Office of Electronic Communications, the 40th anniversary conference and exhibition of the Polish Chamber of Electronic Communication (PIKE) took place on 14-16 October in Łódź.

The "Digital Promised Land" conference, organized by the Polish Chamber of Electronic Communication (PIKE) in collaboration with the Polish Foundation for the Development of Electronic Communications PIKSEL, gathered representatives of the telecommunications market and electronic media: regulators, cable, mobile and fixed-line operators, providers of audiovisual content, signal broadcasters, TV operators and equipment manufacturers.

While opening the meeting, Magdalena Gaj, the President of UKE, stressed that the topics of this year's "Digital Promised Land" conference reflect the challenges currently faced by the telecommunications market, e.g. with respect to the broadband networks. The President of UKE thanked the organizers for the possibility to discuss numerous issues in a broad expert forum.

The agenda of the anniversary meeting covered issues related to digitization and its impact on development of the telecommunications and media sectors. The discussion panels were dedicated to interactive TV, TV and Internet convergence, intellectual property issues as well as the models of financing and organization of the digitization process. On 15 October (Tuesday) a discussion panel called "European Digital Agenda and Digital Dividend - the current status and implementation forecast in line with the EU schedule" was held and attended by Magdalena Gaj, the President of UKE.

The anniversary conference of PIKE was held under the honorary patronage of representatives from state authorities and administrative institutions, including, first and foremost, the President of the Republic of Poland, Bronisław Komorowski. This distinguished group included also the President of the Office of Electronic Communications, Magdalena Gaj.

The "Digital Promised Land" conference was accompanied by an exhibition of products and services of the largest companies in the two sectors. This year for a second time in a row a "Golden PIKE" prize and a Titanic Eye figurine were awarded.
