Opinion of UKE on shared use of infrastructure and spectrum

As part of the auction for frequencies in the 800 MHz and 2600 MHz bands 50 MHz in the 800 MHz band and 140 MHz in the 2600 MHz will be assigned in 2014 in Poland. The NRA presents it opinion on the roll-out of joint networks and shared use of infrastructure and spectrum resources.

Auction for 800 MHz and 2.6 GHz bands

The President of the Office of Electronic Communications announces auction for general exclusive frequency licences to ensure nation-wide high-speed mobile Internet development. The participants to the first auction of this type in Poland will compete for 5 general exclusive frequency licences in the 800 MHz band and for 14 general exclusive frequencies in the 2.6 GHz band.

Not only price - transparent quality of service indicators

The President of the Office of Electronic Communications presents her final report on the outcome of work on identification of quality of service indicators as part of the Memorandum for improving the quality of telecommunications services. The measurements on the operators' networks will commence based on this report.

UKE inspects tablets

The sales of tablets is growing fast and the tablets have become one the most frequently purchased mobile electronic devices. However, an inspection conducted by UKE showed that half of the inspected tablets did not conform to formal or technical requirements.

Consumers about telecommunications market in 2013

UKE presents results of a survey on the usage of telecommunications services. The results include consumer opinions on the functioning of the telecommunications market in Poland, the quality of service and the most popular forms of service usage. 

The Invincible - Infrastructure Protection

On 10 December, the signatories to the Memorandum on counteracting theft and devastation of infrastructure initiated by the presidents of UKE, URE and UTK established a Foundation whose purpose will be to raise awareness and increase social engagement against thefts and devastation of telecommunications, energy and railway infrastructures.

TelePolska fined for breaches to consumer rights

The President of the Office of Electronic Communications Magdalena Gaj imposed on TelePolska Sp. z o.o. a financial penalty in the amount of PLN 1 936 840,10 for concluding initial agreements with consumers for the period longer than 24 months.

UKE and ITU to develop terrestrial transmission maps

On 27 November 2013, the President of the Office of Electronic Communications Magdalena Gaj together with the ITU-D Director Brahima Sanou signed a letter of intention on the development of Interactive Terrestrial (Optical Fibres and Microwaves) Transmission Maps.

UKE workshop for Serbian NRA

On 27 November, on the invitation of the Serbian national regulatory authority for the electronic communications market (RATEL), experts from the Office of Electronic Communications held workshops on the Polish telecommunications infrastructure mapping system. A memorandum on cooperation between the national regulatory authorities of UKE and RATEL was also signed.

At the invitation of Korean organizers of next year's ITU Plenipotentiary Conference (PP-14), Mr Wojciech Berezowski, as representative of the Office of Electronic Communications and of the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT) at the same time, took part in the Global ICT Forum for PP-14.

On 20th of November the President of UKE Magdalena Gaj signed the memorandum of understanding with Thai regulator - National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC).

Agreement on cooperation between UKE and URE

On 14 October, an agreement for elimination of barriers to investment projects in the telecommunications and energy sectors was concluded between Magdalena Gaj, the President of the Office of Electronic Communications and Marek Woszczyk, the President of the Energy Regulatory Office.
