13th Telecommunications and Media World Symposium

On 27 March, 13th Telecommunications and Media World Symposium began in Warsaw, with the participation and honorary patronage of Magdalena Gaj, the President of UKE. The address on the strategy of the President of UKE in light of the needs of the Polish market opened the annual meeting of the representatives of the telecommunications market and the media in Poland.

Broadband Commission for Digital Development

On 16 and 17 March, the President of UKE Magdalena Gaj participated in 7th session of the Broadband Commission for Digital Development, an international commission established by ITU. Participation in the session was an opportunity to present the activities carried out in Poland for equal opportunities in the ICT sector and promotion of digital development.

"Trust but verify" in Bydgoszcz and Golub-Dobrzyń

Bydgoszcz and Golub-Dobrzyń were visited by the experts of the Office of Electronic Communications and Consumer Advocates as part of the "Trust but verify" programme. The purpose of the meeting was to familiarize consumers with issues relating to contracts for telecommunications services.

UKE at the Consumer Knowledge Trade Fair

On 16 March, on the occasion of the World Consumer Rights Day, in Wola Park Shopping Centre in Warsaw, a Consumer Knowledge Trade Fair was held, during which consumers could obtain help and advice of experts from organizations and institutions dealing with consumer protection.

Quality of publicly available telecommunications services in H2 2012

A Report of the study on the quality of publicly available telecommunications services (QoS) for H2 2012, together with an analysis of the quality of service over the whole of 2012. The study was carried out using UKE’s own measurement system.

Digital Patrols set trends – students help Poles in transition to digital terrestrial television

On March 6, at the invitation of the President of UKE, Magdalena Gaj, volunteers from Digital Brigades from Wielkopolskie, Pomorskie and Podlaskie Provinces visited Warsaw.

3rd stage digitisation of terrestrial television

On 19 March, analogue terrestrial television signal from the transmitters in: Elblag, Rzeszów, Szczecin, Warsaw and Wisła will be replaced by digital signal. At the same time digital transmitters broadcasting programmes of the third multiplex (MUX-3) will be launched in these locations. In addition, the vast majority of converter stations working with the main switched-off analogue stations will be replaced with illuminating digital stations.

Polish projects at CeBIT fair in Hannover

Over 200 Polish companies present their products and services at the IT fair in Hannover. At CeBIT Poland also has stands presenting the projects of the Office of Electronic Communications, the Ministry of Administration and Digitisation and the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development.

GSMA Mobile World Congress, and Central and Eastern Europe panel

Representatives of the Office of Electronic Communications took part in a panel discussion during the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. In addition to experts from Poland, the discussion was also attended by representatives of regulatory authorities from Romania and Ukraine.

The President of UKE is also the specialised authority in the area of equipment conformity assessment, including telecommunications terminal equipment and radio equipment.

It includes also the cooperation within organizations of which UKE is a member, i.e. the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), the Body for European Regulators of Electronic Communications (BEREC) and the European Committee for Postal Regulation (CERP).
