Egyptian delegation visits UKE

On April 23, 2013, the Office of Electronic Communications hosted a visit of the delegation of the Egyptian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA). The delegations were accompanied by representatives of IT chambers and ICT companies.

On April 25, as part of celebrating the global "Women in ICT Day", at the initiative of the President of UKE, a conference was organised with the focus on "Women of Success in ICT".

Analysis of prices for mobile Internet in Poland

The price analysis focused on prices for mobile Internet services in Poland, basing on the calculation of an average monthly price paid by the end user and the resulting actual price of 1 GB of data transfer.

New Maps of Demand

The Office of Electronic Communications has released a new edition of the national Maps of Demand presenting the demand for landline telephones, broadband Internet and local hot spots with Internet access available in public areas.

4th stage of the digitisation of terrestrial television

On 22 and 23 April analogue terrestrial television signals from the transmitters in: Częstochowa, Gorlice, Kłodzko, Opole, Rabka, Szczawnica, Tarnów, Wrocław and Zakopane will be replaced by a digital signal. At the same time digital transmitters broadcasting programmes of the third multiplex (MUX-3) will be launched in these locations.

Polish delegation to visit Shenzhen

The Polish delegation met with Chen Biao - deputy mayor of Shenzhen, a city where the first Chinese Special Economic Zone was created. It is a symbol of dynamic economic and technological development of the country and a region with one of the largest GDP growth in the world. Chinese partners proposed strengthening the cooperation in the area of innovative technologies.

KFS Conference "Building Broadband Poland"

The National Broadband Forum (KFS) organised a conference which was launched on 11 April at 10:00 am in Łódź. The event was one of information and advisory meetings held as  part of the SIPS project (Information System for Broadband Infrastructure and Broadband Poland web portal). This time the event was combined with the INTERTELECOM trade fair and was held under the theme: "Building Broadband Poland".

During the visit of the Polish delegation in Beijing representatives of the Ministry of Administration and Digitization and the Office of Electronic Communications met with the management of the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Price analysis of mobile phone services

Benchmark of prices for mobile services in Poland and in the European Union, both in terms of the average cost of offered services, as well as fees for individual voice and non-voice services.

On 3 April, in the Sejm, during a press conference entitled Poland needs good engineers! the "Women in technical universities 2013" Report was announced.

UKE's measures for the benefit of consumers

Pro-consumer policy is consistently one of the pillars of the President of UKE's strategy. In 2012 alone, the experts of the Consumer Information Centre provided about 12 000 phone advice services, and UKE undertook almost 8 000 interventions with the operators, of which 67% were processed to the benefit of consumers.

Making available the telecommunications data in 2012

Under Article 10 of Directive 2006/24/EC and Article 180g (2) of the Telecommunications Act, the President of UKE has prepared an aggregated summary of the requests for making the data available from authorised entities, the courts and the prosecutor's office addressed to telecommunications undertakings. Under the Directive's provisions this report is submitted to the European Commission on annual basis.

    The President of the Office of Electronic Communications (President of UKE) is the national regulatory authority for the market of telecommunications and postal services. The President of UKE is also the specialised authority in the area of equipment conformity assessment, including telecommunications terminal equipment and radio equipment.

    International activity of the President of UKE consists of, inter alia, cooperation with the European Commission, other EU institutions and Regulatory Authorities of EU Member State. It includes also the cooperation within organizations of which UKE is a member, i.e. the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), the Body for European Regulators of Electronic Communications (BEREC) and the European Committee for Postal Regulation (CERP).
