The President of the Office of Electronic Communications, Magdalena Gaj, presents a document describing the state of telecommunications and postal markets at the end of her term in office - the most important regulatory activities and their effects.


NGA Investments

A spectacular growth in new NGA-class access points - by 3969.96% - from 66,029 to 2,687,352.

The end of 2015 - exceeding the threshold of 100% households in Poland under internet access network coverage (more than one internet access point per household).

Consumer Benefits

Average amount of money spent on mobile phone services in 2015 amounted to PLN 49. In 2011 average expenditure amounted to PLN 69.  This means a decrease in consumer spending by as much as 29%.

In comparison to 3 analogue programmes that were available to consumers in 2011, at the end of 2016 consumers will be able to watch 31 free digital terrestrial TV programmes.

For the first time in history consumers have been provided with reliable information on the quality of telecommunications services in Poland.

Commitments to invest in high-speed mobile internet in 2,293 out of 2,479 communes in Poland where such internet has not been available before.
An intensive programme of information and education activities addressed to consumers, taking account of the diversity of target groups.

More frequencies for the market

The market value of the mobile internet segment in this period grew by over 132% - tangible economic effects: 

Launching of 5 digital terrestrial television multiplexes,

Making available of the following bands: 1800 MHz, 800 MHz, 2,6 GHz 

Postal market

In comparison to 2011 there was a 112.11% increase in the volume of services performed by alternative operators and a 140.27% increase in revenues.
