The European Commission invites participation in the European Broadband Awards 2016

The European Commission invites all interested parties to submit applications in the European Broadband Awards 2016 competition. It is open to all types of projects, irrespective of the size, location, or technologies used, that enable citizens access to broadband. The competition is addressed both to public institutions and private entities.


The European Commission intends to award outstanding broadband projects all over Europe.

It is possible to submit projects in the following categories:

  • Innovative models of financing, business and investment,
  • Cost reduction and co-investment,
  • Socio-economic impact and affordability,
  • Openness and competition,
  • Future-proof and quality of service.

Mr Günther Oettinger, Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society, will announce the winners during the B-DAY: Going Giga event on 14-15 November in Brussels. The European Commission (DG CONNECT) will also promote winners in the media, website, newsletters and in the good practices database on Broadband Europe website.

The deadline for submitting the applications is 15 September 2016. The projects will be assessed by the jury composed of 5 experts in broadband from the EU. More information and an application form are available on the website of the Ministry of Digitization or the European Commission.

We encourage all entities involved in development of broadband projects in Poland to participate in this prestigious competition!

The President of UKE is also the specialised authority in the area of equipment conformity assessment, including telecommunications terminal equipment and radio equipment.
