The meeting on network neutrality


On 13 December 2011, the first of the planned meetings regarding relations between content provideras and telecom operators in the context of network neutrality was held at the seat of the Office of Electronic Communications in Warsaw.


The meeting initiated and led by the President of UKE was attended by: the Inspector General for Personal Data Protection, representative of the President of the Office for Competition and Consumer Protection and content providers.

In the course of debate, the following topis were mentioned:

•    legal consequences of the amendment of the Telecommunications Act,
•    the problem of blocking advertisements in mobile Internet,
•    net neutrality.

The meeting was intended to exchange information on perception of the above-mentioned problems by the market, to discuss possible scenarios and to exchange the views on the net neutrality issues.

    The President of the Office of Electronic Communications (President of UKE) is the national regulatory authority for the market of telecommunications and postal services. The President of UKE is also the specialised authority in the area of equipment conformity assessment, including telecommunications terminal equipment and radio equipment.
