The President of UKE as the Patron of the National Internet Knowledge Contest

Registration for the 6th edition of the Net Masters Cup - National Internet Knowledge Contest has started. For a few years, the President of the Office of Electronic Communications has held the honorary patronage over the event. It is one of the largest contests in Europe for the knowledge of Internet and IT addressed to upper secondary school students.


- The awareness of the potential of new technologies provided by telecommunications operators allows for their better use in everyday life. It builds demand for data communication and mobilises operators to greater investments in the broadband Internet network. Our goal is to lead to the situation when young people from every place in Poland have similar opportunities in access to information technology as their peers from other countries in Europe - said Magdalena Gaj, President of the Office of Electronic Communications, at the press conference inaugurating the 6th edition of the National Internet Knowledge Contest.

The organizers invite students from around 15 thousand schools from across Poland to participate in the Contest, and the five previous editions of the contest were attended in total by nearly 320 thousand people. The Grand Final of the Contest is scheduled for 17 June 2013.

During the two stages of on-line tests and in the Grand Final live, participants will solve tasks in the fields including algorithms, programming, databases, computer networks, computer graphics, telecommunications basics, social networks, operating systems, business informatics and safety in the network.

Content Partners of the Contest, fully responsible for composing questions and verifying contest results at each stage, are renowned universities: Warsaw University of Technology, Technical University of Łódź, Poznań University of Technology, Wrocław University of Technology, the Adam Mickiewicz  University, Warsaw School of Economics and the Polish-Japanese Institute of Information Technology. The Polish Information Processing Society also supervises the competence level.

The following institutions took honorary patronage over the Net Masters Cup: the President of the Office of Electronic Communications, the Ministry of Administration and Digitization, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Scientific Society of Economic Science.

    The President of the Office of Electronic Communications (President of UKE) is the national regulatory authority for the market of telecommunications and postal services. The President of UKE is also the specialised authority in the area of equipment conformity assessment, including telecommunications terminal equipment and radio equipment.
