On August 2, 2002 the official presentation of nominations to the members of the Telecommunications Council took place in the Office of Telecommunications and Post Regulation.
Nominations to the members of the Council were presented by the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Mr. Krzysztof Heller on behalf of the Minister of Infrastructure. According to the Deputy Minister, Mr. Heller, the Council groups together many well-known and respected persons connected with the Polish telecommunications market for many years. In its composition the Council reflects different areas of the market: governmental sector, academics, telecommunication industry, economic chambers associating operators. These facts guarantee that the work of the Council will have a positive impact on the development of Polish telecommunications market.
The President of the Office of Telecommunications and Post Regulation Mr. Witold Graboś congratulated the newly appointed members of the Council and emphasized that according to the last amendment to the Telecommunications Law, the Telecommunications Council can provide its knowledge and experience to both, the President of URTiP and the Minister of Infrastructure. The President informed that he put forth the proposal to the Prime Minister to nominate Mr. Krzysztof Kwiecień to head the Council.
The Telecommunication Council is an advisory body to the President of URTiP in the scope of: telecommunications activity, frequency management and issues related to electromagnetic compatibility.
The Council presents its opinions in cases brought by the Minister of Infrastructure and the President of URTiP. The Council is also entitled to present opinions on its own initiative on matters within the responsibilities of the President of the Office excluding cases concerning defense and security of the state and public security and order.
