Telecommunications facilities for disabled persons

The Ordinance of the Minister of Administration and Digitization imposing  the obligation to provide facilities for disabled persons on providers of publicly available telephone services is entering into force.

The President of UKE Magdalena Gaj has taken her position on the provision of personal data covered by telecommunications secrecy in civil cases. The President of UKE has stressed the citizens' right to privacy and lack of legal grounds for civil courts of law and law enforcement officers to require data covered by telecommunications secrecy.

UKE at the Consumer Knowledge Trade Fair

The Consumer Knowledge Trade Fair took place on 16 March 2014 in the Wola Park Shopping Centre on the occasion of the Global Consumer Rights Day. During the Fair consumers could obtain specialised assistance and advice from experts in the organizations and institutions responsible for consumer protection, such as the Office of Electronic Communications, the Municipal Consumer Advocate in Warsaw, the European Consumer Centre, the Polish Insurance Ombudsman, the Energy Regulatory Office, the Voivodeship Inspectorate of the Trade Inspection in Warsaw and the Association of Polish Consumers.

UKE supports consumers

Consumer-oriented policy is one of the most important pillars in the Strategy of the President of the Office of Electronic Communications. Experts in the Consumer Information Centre of UKE gave almost 18,000 pieces of advice over the telephone and UKE intervened with the operators in almost 7,000 cases, 65% of which were considered with a positive outcome for consumers.

Trust but verify - summary for 2013

The Office of Electronic Communications has summarized an educational campaign called "Trust but verify" aimed at supporting the subscribers and preventing unfair practices in the telecommunications market. In 2013, 32 face-to-face meetings of UKE experts and consumers in the entire country were held.

The President of UKE is also the specialised authority in the area of equipment conformity assessment, including telecommunications terminal equipment and radio equipment.

    International activity of the President of UKE consists of, inter alia, cooperation with the European Commission, other EU institutions and Regulatory Authorities of EU Member State. It includes also the cooperation within organizations of which UKE is a member, i.e. the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), the Body for European Regulators of Electronic Communications (BEREC) and the European Committee for Postal Regulation (CERP).
