Data transmission in the country has increased seven-fold and in roaming 23-fold over the last 5 years

In 2014 people using services of the national mobile telephony operators in the territory of Poland transmitted 260.4 billion MB of data.

The last five years showed a 7-fold increase in the use of data transmission.

Data transmission in roaming has been growing even more rapidly.  In the last year alone it increased by 255.6% compared to the end of 2013. During the last five years the volume of transmitted data increased by up to 23-fold. These two indicators clearly show the importance data transmission has to end users. It is the only service that allows for meeting all kinds of customer needs - from communication to entertainment.

Dynamic change in this segment is primarily stimulated by the increasing popularity of devices such as smartphones and tablets, which allow for network connectivity. - This is a segment of virtually unlimited growth potential, which will develop rapidly in the coming years not only in Poland, but also in other countries - noted the President of UKE, Magdalena Gaj. This is confirmed by analyses and estimates conducted by many companies from the new technologies sector. They show that the increase of mobile data traffic on a global scale  amounted only in the last year to 69% (from 1.5 exabytes in 2013 to 2.5 exabytes at the end of 2014). It is also expected that in 2019 traffic in mobile networks will increase to 24.3 exabytes. - This is a huge challenge for the operators, but also an opportunity to create innovative and competitive services that will allow for acquiring new groups of customers - adds the President of UKE.

Below we present the full analysis (in Polish only).
