Radio Spectrum Policy Programme


The European Commission has defined the main strategies and objectives of radio frequency management for 2011 - 2015.


20 September 2010 the Commission published a draft decision laying down the first multiannual Radio Spectrum Policy Programme.
The draft defines the main strategies and objectives of radio frequency management at the EU level for 2011 - 2015.

The main proposals include a binding target of ensuring broadband access (30 Mb/s) to Internet for all EU citizens till 2020 and to open the 800 MHz band (790-862 MHz) for the purpose of wireless access to Internet in all Member States till 1 January 2013.

The Commission will send the draft decision to the European Parliament and the Council of EU. The Belgian Presidency plans to report on the progress of frequency management coordination in EU during the TTE Council meeting in December this year.

    The President of the Office of Electronic Communications (President of UKE) is the national regulatory authority for the market of telecommunications and postal services. The President of UKE is also the specialised authority in the area of equipment conformity assessment, including telecommunications terminal equipment and radio equipment.
