Report on the telecommunications market in Poland in 2009

Changes in the telecommunications market and regulatory activities.


The year 2009 proved that the telecommunications market as almost no other, changed rapidly, both technologically and in terms of customer requirements. The last year showed  also how important and necessary regulatory action in the field of telecommunications. Information technology is becoming more important, our daily life is already full of bits and bytes, and the challenges of the future of telecommunications are enormous. All market participants agree that currently the most important issue in the telecommunications industry is to create appropriate investment conditions In order to eliminate completely the digital divide. Furthermore, proper regulation of the whole sector is vital to the availability of broadband services in the future.

The report shows the changes that have occurred in the telecommunications market - both on the technological and pricing trends as well as increase the physical availability of services - and provides a brief overview of regulatory activities. The report is available in Polish.

    The President of the Office of Electronic Communications (President of UKE) is the national regulatory authority for the market of telecommunications and postal services. The President of UKE is also the specialised authority in the area of equipment conformity assessment, including telecommunications terminal equipment and radio equipment.
