Safer Internet Day - "Connect with respect"

On 5 February, we celebrate 5th International Safer Internet Day and its 2013 theme are the rights and responsibilities of a digital citizen.  The campaign's slogan is "Connect with respect".

Event organizers - The Nobody's Children Foundation and the Research and Academic Computer Network held a conference featuring a meeting with journalists, inaugural lecture, debate about online rights and obligations, as well as presentations of partners of the Safer Internet Day (SID).

The event is held under the honorary patronage of the following institutions: Ministry of Education, Ministry of Science and Higher Education, Office of Electronic Communications (UKE) and the Ombudsman.
As part of this year's SID celebrations, a special emphasis was put on the right of every internet user to use the potential offered by Internet to pursue personal fulfilment, gather information, learn and have fun. The awareness of the responsibility for actions taken on the Internet was also raised. In the course of net surfing, each user should remember to respect the rights of other users.

At the conference, the Office of Electronic Communications was represented by its Deputy President Lidia Kozłowska.

The President of UKE has been supporting a number of initiatives in the field of Internet security. An important initiative in this regard is the UKE Certification programme in the Safe Internet category. Certification of telecommunications services in the Safer Internet category is designed primarily to support the activities of telecommunications undertakings to ensure the safety of network users, including, above all, children and young people and to improve the quality of services provided. Thus, the President of UKE wants to draw attention of all users to the problem of their network safety and to create the need to use the tools available on the market to provide the highest possible level of protection against crime in the network.

All information about the progress of the 2013 Safe Internet Day is available on the websites and Young users will find a lot of information on the Safe Internet Day on the webiste
