Safety of the electronic communications in cyberspace

The President of UKE publishes a Guide for the safe use of electronic communications means in cyberspace.

 

The President of the Office of Electronic Communications, obliged by the provisions of the Telecommunications Act and recognising its role in promoting safe use of electronic communications means in the broadly understood cyberspace, publishes this guide.

Its aim is to show risks to which every cyberspace user is exposed and, in as accessible a manner as possible, indicate, with the use of a few chosen events and situations, recommended precautionary measures and the most popular ways of securing data and devices.

The guide contains important information concerning the mechanisms of threats, consequences of effective cyberattacks and ways to protect one’s own data and computer systems. In the guide there is also a set of information concerning the most important techniques of securing computers, together with practical guidlines on how to do it.

    The President of the Office of Electronic Communications (President of UKE) is the national regulatory authority for the market of telecommunications and postal services. The President of UKE is also the specialised authority in the area of equipment conformity assessment, including telecommunications terminal equipment and radio equipment.

    International activity of the President of UKE consists of, inter alia, cooperation with the European Commission, other EU institutions and Regulatory Authorities of EU Member State. It includes also the cooperation within organizations of which UKE is a member, i.e. the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), the Body for European Regulators of Electronic Communications (BEREC) and the European Committee for Postal Regulation (CERP).
