The update rates for roaming in the EU since 1 July 2015

The rates for specific services rendered in roaming in the European Union will be updated in July 2015.

 

According to the Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council (EU) No 531/2012 of 13 June 2012 on roaming in public mobile communication networks within the Union, it is necessary to update rates by applying the reference exchange rates for the use of mobile roaming services, with effect from 1 July 2015.

The existing service charges will be updated at both wholesale and retail levels.

The retail charges

From 1 July, the consumers will therefore pay not more than the following table describes:

The settlements in roaming regulated at the retail level should be as follows:

  • for voice calls - charges levied per second for both calls made and received. For calls made the service provider may determine the length of the initial impulse not exceeding 30 seconds,
  • for SMS messages – the fee for each message sent, the operators do not charge fees for receiving SMS messages,
  • data transmission – the fee charged per each used megabyte of data, charging per kilobyte, with the exception of MMS, for which the fee may be charged per unit. In this case the fee for sending or receiving MMS does not exceed the maximum retail charge for data transmission.
The wholesale charges

The providers of  an international roaming service will be accounted for in accordance with the following average rates:
