On 25-27 February 2015 the Executive President and experts from the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) of the Sultanate of Oman paid a visit at UKE. It was held as part of bilateral collaboration between regulatory authorities of both countries, based on the Memorandum of Understanding between the President of UKE and TRA, signed in June 2014.
As part of the meeting a workshop was held in Warsaw, during which the experts from UKE and TRA discussed i.a. the scope of regulatory framework in Poland and the Sultanate of Oman, the competences and responsibilities of regulatory authorities in both countries, the issues related to the regulation of postal services and the regulation of telecommunications markets, including in particular the issues related to the analysis of markets and imposition of regulatory obligations, the problems of ensuring competition, the quality of services and consumer protection on the telecommunications market.
During the visit the Executive President of TRA, Dr Hamed Salim Al Rawahi also held a meeting with the President of UKE, Ms Magdalena Gaj, the Vice President, Mr Karol Krzywicki and the Director General, Mr Mariusz Czyżak. The plans for further collaboration of regulatory authorities were discussed, including the proposal to organise further workshops and a possible exchange of experts. The representatives of TRA are particularly interested in the Polish experience in the scope of postal services market regulation, number portability and telecommunications infrastructure mapping.
